Resilience and Sustainability in International Agricultural Supply Chains, White Rose / CEGBI Workshop, King’s Manor, 6 March 2014, 10 am - 4 pm

BURNS (Building Up Resilience in Supply Chains) is an exciting collaboration between the three White Rose Universities: York, Sheffield and Leeds.

The aim of the project and the Workshop is to better understand what underpins resilience and sustainability in international agricultural supply chains.

The Workshop will involve key note presentations from the academic team on their analysis of the resilience and sustainability literature. This workshop will involve producers, processors, logistics experts, manufacturers, retailers, think tanks, policy makers and NGOs. Everyone in discussion groups will have the opportunity to identify the current gaps in the research and how research should be shaped in the future.

The White Rose team is led by Professor Bob Doherty (Chair of Marketing) at the University of York, with inputs from Dr Corrado Topi at The Stockholm Environment Institute.

Dr Anne Tallontire leads the team from the University of Leeds, together with Professor William Young and Professor Chee Wong, bringing expertise on fair trade and value chains, sustainable business and global supply chains respectively.

At Sheffield the research is led by Professor David Oglethorpe who has expertise in sustainable consumption; also from Sheffield Dr Severine Saintier and Dr Zoe Ollerenshaw bring international law expertise with regard to trademarks and international contracts.
