IIM - Masterclass Guest Lecture
The Institute of Interim Management (IIM) Delivers Masters Masterclass Lecture at University of York
The IIM was pleased to accept The York Management School invitation to present one of the guest lectures in the 2010/2011 Masters Masterclass series on the topic of ‘What happens to organisations when they become distressed’. The lecture was delivered by IIM director, Tony Evans to over 120 students in the University’s new, purpose-built Law and Management building on Heslington East.
Having introduced the topic of transformational change, with turnaround being a particular version of such change, the attendees were invited to role-play being a member of a two person team going into a company to implement turnaround. Much of the students’ time was spent experiencing the practicalities of what it is like to go into a business under such circumstances, considering what issues they were going to have to confront in very tight timeframes. Prior to the event, all attendees had been issued with a real life business scenario which formed the focus for the lively debate that ensued.
The Institute has offered further support with follow up work with the School during the spring term when the students will be offered a projects based on this form of transformational change.
