Over 40 delegates attended a stimulating workshop on globalisation and the changing role of professional services on 25th February 2010. The event was organised by Dr Kathryn Haynes of the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM), by Professor Teresa da Silva Lopes of the Centre for Evolution of Global Business and Institutions (CEGBI), and Professor Josephine Maltby of the York Management School. The workshop explored the historical and contemporary challenges arising within globalised professional services in terms of governance, management and diversity. Presentations were made by a number of external leaders in the field: Professor Matthias Kipping, Schulich School of Business, York University, Canada; Professor Laura Empson, Director, Centre for Professional Services Firms, Cass Business School, City University; and Dr Daniel Muzio, University of Leeds. In addition, the Accounting Group of the York Management School was well represented in a number of presentations by Professor Josephine Maltby, Dr Kathryn Haynes, Dr Shraddha Verma, Philip Linsley and Sathya Reddy.
