The Islamic Dynasties of Morocco and the Four Imperial Cities of Marrakech, Fez, Rabat and Meknes

Idrisids (788-974), Almoravids (1040-1147), Almohads (1121-1269) and Merinids (1248-1465) are some of the best known Islamic dynasties, which established themselves and ruled from Morocco. The main focus of this course will be on the imperial cities founded and expanded by the leaders of these dynasties. A detailed view of the impressive buildings and the beautiful works of art and furniture that decorated them will complete the day.
