The Dissolution of the Monasteries

Tuesday 25 January 2022, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

Speaker(s): Kirsty Wright BA MSt

The dissolution was one of the most dramatic events of the English Reformation and its impact is still visible across the landscape today. This course explores the process of dissolution from 1536 into the seventeenth century. Using case studies from different parts of the country, the course examines the administrative, cultural and architectural impacts of the dissolution. In doing so it also considers the afterlife of the dissolution to discuss emotional responses, communities' adaptation and how it has been remembered.
