Vast in time, place, generic manifestations, and theatrical performance modes, the study of medieval English drama poses a challenge. This course will explore from mummers’ plays to Morris Dancing and morality Plays. It will focus on the social and cultural influence of these performances on cities like York, by studying contemporary documents and plays’ texts.
This course will be delivered via Zoom. Students joining the course will need access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone (essential) and a webcam (desirable) as well as a reliable broadband connection.
