The Early Church: From Obscure Sect to the Religion of the Empire

Saturday 24 April 2021, 10.00AM to 1.00pm

Speaker(s): Cristina Figueredo BA MA PhD

In the first century AD, Christians were but a minor persecuted sect led by a few apostles who had been chosen by Jesus. From these unpromising beginnings, Christianity rose to become the sole religion of the Roman Empire. This course will study the rise of the Christian Church from its beginnings to the 4th century, by analysing early Christian documentary evidence and visual sources.
