Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms: The Kings of All England

Building on the foundations that Alfred the Great had laid, the Kings of Wessex eventually were crowned Kings of All England. This course will study the revival of the 10th century under King Edgar, and the troubles of Athelred the Unready in his struggles with the Vikings. Early medieval sources and Anglo-Saxon art will be studied, focusing on the political and cultural changes throughout this period.
