The Philosophy of Roger Scruton

Saturday 28 November 2020, 10.00AM to 1:00PM

This course introduces the philosophy of one of the most prolific, profound and provocative thinkers of modern times. Loved or loathed, Roger Scruton (1944-2020) was until very recently one of Britain’s most eminent public intellectuals. A courageous defender of academic freedom, he was as celebrated abroad as he was criticised at home. Tracing a wide-ranging body of work, we will read and discuss Scruton’s key arguments about art and human nature, politics and the sacred.
