An Introduction to Geoffrey Hill - online course

Saturday 9 May 2020, 10.00AM to 1pm

Geoffrey Hill’s work has been widely celebrated, from receiving a knighthood in 2012, to his often being described, up to his death, as the greatest living poet writing in English. He is also known as one of the most difficult poets of recent times. This course will provide an introduction to Hill’s poetry, and help reach an understanding of the reasons behind this ‘difficulty’. We will do so by looking at significant poems from various relevant points of his career.
