Italian Culture from Dante to the Present

Up to and after its unification as a country in 1861, the Italian peninsula has given the world great artists, writers, and filmmakers. In this course, we will discover aspects of this rich culture, from the sonnets of Dante to twenty-first century cinema. Whatever one’s background or previous knowledge, this course will open up varied areas of Italian culture and their impact on the formation of a national identity.
