TS Eliot’s most famous poem is challenging for the first-time reader, mysterious and full of allusions. In this course there will be the opportunity to achieve an overview of the whole poem, discuss the role of the sections, and focus on selected passages for close reading - as well as considering the poem’s place in the wider culture of its time, especially in the ‘modernist’ literary movement.
