Islamic Art in Italy: Venice, Florence and Urbino

In this one day course, we will investigate the multifaceted relationships between some of the most remarkable cities in Italy and the Islamic world. Islamic artworks, like carpets, glass and ceramics, were sought after by the Doges and the aristocracy in Venice, the Medici in Florence and the Montefeltro in Urbino. Through the analysis of some of the most famous objects, we will retrace the history of these celebrated cities and their rulers.
