In the late twelfth century, a new architectural style revolutionised the construction of grand churches. From its beginnings at St Denis, outside Paris, the Gothic style would conquer all Western Europe. This course will study the architectural features of the Gothic style in French and English cathedrals from the twelfth to the fifteenth centuries. It will explore the different evolutions the style followed in each country as well as comparing the design and execution of their stained glass windows.
