Education in Early Modern England (c.1480-c.1650)

Monday 20 January 2020, 7.00PM to 9.00pm

This course will explore the different types of education available to people in England between the late fifteenth and the mid-seventeenth centuries, from small, informal, reading schools to grammar schools and universities. Who would learn to read and write? Where might you learn subjects like maths? Of what use was a Latin education? We will examine not only what educational options were available during this period, but also the factors which shaped educational opportunity in early modern England.
