The Tudor court was a place of opulence and display, populated with luxurious costumes, set in magnificent palaces, and decorated with imposing paintings, tapestries and metalwork. However, this course will delve into the hidden arts of the Tudors, and ask what attracted the Tudors to the miniature, as well as the magnificent. We will consider the importance of size and scale to art in general, as well as encountering a hidden world of Tudor portraits, poetry and jewels. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
