Saturday 9 November 2019, 10.00AM to 4.00pm
Ever wondered about the hidden history of place names? Whose name is commemorated in the town or village where you live, which people first named it and what language did they speak? Were we invaded by thousands of Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans, or does the place name evidence tell a different story? This day course will give you an overview of the changing nature of place names and what they tell us about the people who lived there. It is anticipated that this course will be held at the King’s Manor.
