Businesses and organisations in the UK who hold information about people are required by law to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. Failure to comply with the requirements can lead to liability in both the civil and criminal courts. Students will become familiar with the basic principles and obligations covered by the 1998 Act through the use of scenarios and discussion to aid understanding. This short course would suit students working in HR, junior or senior managers, and professionals who need an appreciation of the implications of data protection. No prior knowledge is required.
