An Introduction to the Pre-Raphaelites

Saturday 17 March 2018, 1.00PM to 4.00pm

Enrol and pay online

This course introduces the Pre-Raphaelites, a group of painters, poets and critics founded in 1848 and best known for their sumptuously detailed paintings of classical and Shakespearean figures, including Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s Proserpine and John Everett Millais’ Ophelia. This course will explore the art, poetry and ideals of the Brotherhood, their controversies, and the women who inspired them, enabling participants to learn to ‘read’ the language of Pre-Raphaelite paintings and poetry.
