After his accession to the throne in 1413, Henry embarked on war with France. His military successes culminated in his famous victory at Agincourt. Moreover, after the Treaty of Troyes he became regent and heir apparent to the French throne. As Shakespeare put it: ‘small time, but in that small most greatly lived this star of England.’ This course will study the life and reign of Henry V, aiming to find out whether Henry’s achievements have withstood the scrutiny of history.
