Graduating? Congratulations! Also, we really need those books back…

Posted on 10 June 2022

If you’re an undergraduate, postgraduate or visiting student who is due to leave the University of York in July, the library wishes you every success!

We also need your books back - or indeed any other items you have borrowed from us: DVDs, folios, maps, long loan laptops; anything physical. Please DO NOT leave them in student accommodation you no longer have access to, houses you’ve moved out of, pubs you no longer visit, or anywhere else that isn’t the library.

Please return your items to us by Friday 24 June at the latest!

Any items not returned by this date will incur a lost item charge and £10 administration fee. If the item is returned after that we can cancel the lost item charge, but the administration fee will be retained - so it’s really worth planning on how you’re going to get things back to us!

Our ideal situation is that everyone returns their items and not a single person gets any kind of charge.

In summary:

  • Return everything you’ve borrowed from the library by June 24
  • You can return items to our libraries on Campus West or at King’s Manor - it doesn’t matter which one your borrowed them from originally, you can return to either
  • You can also use the Book Drop in the Ron Cooke Hub
  • You can send items back by post at no cost to you - we’ll check the post-date but try and make sure they arrive by June 24!
  • Avoid charges, graduate, enjoy an amazing post-University life and career
