Huge thanks to everyone who has provided feedback about our proposals for new furniture at King’s Manor Library. We’re really grateful for your enthusiasm and engagement with our new vision for the Library. We’ve been busy pulling together your feedback and our own observations about the space, which you can read about in the document linked below.
We’ve taken inspiration from the Charles I coat of arms outside the entrance to King’s Manor for
colours of the new furniture
We will carry out the remaining work to install the furniture and shelving and to finalise maintenance work during December 2021 and early January 2022. We’ve summarised below what will happen when. We’ll stick to these dates as far as possible, but we’ll let you know if anything changes.
The Library will close from Monday 6th December 2021. There will be no access for users from this time, during which we will undertake the remaining maintenance works and install the new furniture and mobile shelving.
We intend to offer a retrieval service to ensure that access to King’s Manor Library collections is possible through the closure period. We will share more details nearer the time about how this will work.
We know that students value access to study space at King’s Manor, so we have arranged for alternative study space to be provided whilst the Library is unavailable. We will share more details about this soon.
We’ll ring in the new year by opening the completed Library at the start of Spring term 2022. We look forward to opening our doors and for you to see how everything has come together!
Hopefully after reading our plans you’re as excited as we are for the future of King’s Manor Library. Please contact your department’s Academic Liaison Librarian if you have any questions about what’s happening in the next few months.
