The Library will stay open and we are not anticipating any changes to our current opening hours. Remember that our opening hours will look a little different over the Christmas vacation period; read more about our opening times for the next few weeks.
From Friday 10 December face coverings are once again mandatory in all public indoor spaces on campus, including the Library. You’ll need to wear your face covering when moving around the building and when working at a study desk in an open area, but you can remove your face covering if you’re working alone in a study room.
Please bring your own face covering with you if you can, but we will have spares available if you forget yours.
We’re still available to help with all things Library and IT related, but from Monday 13 December our Help Desk will close on site. You will be able to contact us virtually via email or using our online chat service. Library staff will be available online 9am to 5pm daily, but outside of those hours you can send us an email (we’ll get back to you as soon as we can) or use our 24/7 chat service. On Friday 24 December we will be available 9am to 4pm, after which our Christmas opening hours will take effect. We don’t know yet when the Help Desk will reopen on site, but this will be Monday 10 January at the earliest.
We told you recently about our change to a blended approach to study space bookings. This new approach will remain in place and we don’t anticipate any further changes to study bookings at this time.
Our Book Takeaway service will close to new requests after Monday 13 December until the new year. We anticipate being able to work on new requests from Tuesday 4 January. You are able to borrow books in person from the Library, or please contact us if you’re struggling with access to particular resources.
Thank you as ever for your patience whilst we explore the implications of the new restrictions and adapt our services. As always, these updates are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change based on any further government announcements. We’ll let you know via Library News if anything major changes, or you can keep up to date with what we’re doing on our Twitter account.
