As lockdown restrictions ease, we're switching back on the option for you to place requests on books which are on loan. This will make it easier for you to get access to the materials that you need.
If a book you have on loan is requested, you will receive an email with a new due date. We appreciate that it's not easy for everyone to return books at the moment, so we've extended the return time on requested items to ten days. You can return books at the Library, at the return point in Ron Cooke Hub or using our free postal returns service.
We're not charging fines at the present time, but please contact us if you're not going to be able to return your books on time - if they've been requested, someone else will be waiting for the book to be returned.
The Library and IT Help Desk will be available in person from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
While we're here if you need us, you'll find it quicker to contact us online. By doing this you'll also help to keep our users and staff safe. We'll continue to offer a virtual Help Desk from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week.
We're reopening King's Manor Library for study space and for you to browse the collections. It will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
As with the main Library you will need to book a study space in advance using our booking system:
Remember that you'll need to wear a face covering at all times when visiting the Library.
York Minster Library remains closed for the time being, but we're now able to access the books located there. You can request them via YorSearch for collection at either the Morrell or King's Manor Library, or request a postal loan using our Book Takeaway service:
Our current opening hours are 8am to 12 midnight daily. Next month we'll be extending our opening hours temporarily to provide additional access to the Library during the University's exam period. We'll be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week from 8am on Monday 3 May until 8am on Sunday 6 June.
In the Summer Term we'll likely be getting busier, so please remember to cancel your study space booking if you no longer intend to visit the Library. You can also ‘check out' if you leave your booking early, which enables us to make that space available to other students.
As always please get in touch with us if you have any questions:
