Welcome new and returning students

Posted on 27 September 2020

A very warm welcome from the Library and Archives. Whether you’re new to York, returning after the break, or studying and working at a distance, we are delighted to be here for you.

We’ve updated our services and support over the summer so do check out our News web pages for all the latest information about borrowing, using our study spaces and accessing print and online resources. If you have any questions at all, there are lots of ways that you can get in touch with us, so please don’t be stuck.

Our information for new students has lots of tips to get you started and videos providing an overview of the key things to know. Search #UoYTips on Twitter, Instagram and the Library website for lots more guidance and suggestions as you settle into life at the University.

For those of you who will be visiting the Library and Archives buildings in person, we’ve introduced a range of safety measures including socially-distanced study spaces, quarantining of books after use and lots of hand sanitiser everywhere. We’ll ask you to wear face coverings at all times (unless exempt).

Explore our virtual tour below or watch our one-minute introduction to the Library. We've also produced some tips for how to use the Library at a distance.

Whatever we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask. Welcome to you all and have a great term.
