More Library services reopen

Posted on 5 August 2020

We’re continuing to open more of our buildings and add more services.

From Monday 10 August, we’re adding to the number of available study spaces: you can now book desks in Morrell and on another floor of Fairhurst.

You’ll also be able to browse Morrell shelves for print books again and check them out using the self-checkout machines. This means we’re wrapping up our Click and Collect Service:

  • the final day to make new requests was Wednesday 5 August
  • the final day for collecting them is Friday 14 August.

If you don’t wish to or are unable to come into the Library to borrow items, don’t worry - you can still use our Scan and Send and Postal Loans services.

You’ll also be able to borrow books from King’s Manor Library , via Book Takeaway. Although you can’t browse the shelves at King's Manor (for now), you can choose what you need on YorSearch then either collect them at King’s Manor or have them transferred to the Morrell to pick up there.

What’s coming up next

From 14 September, we'll:

  • offer study space at King's Manor Library
  • offer laptop loans in Morrell
  • extend Book Takeawayto York Minster Library, allowing you to collect Minster items at Morrell
  • reopen the Borthwick Institute for Archives for our research community.

More information about all these services, including how to book to access archives, will come soon. We’ll continue to post news items on the Library web pages, as well as posting on Twitter and Facebook, to keep you up to date with changes as they happen.

We’re also regularly updating the reopening our buildings web page.
