164 more study slots per day, and Library Home From Home

Posted on 20 November 2020

We’ve changed the lengths of some of our booking slots in the Morrell, Burton and Fairhurst to introduce a lot more 2-3 hour slots.

We’ve had a lot of feedback from you saying that even though the Library study spaces were fully booked, people didn’t necessarily need full-day or half-day slots, so desks were frustratingly empty - but not usable by others. To address this we’ve changed the lengths of some of our booking slots in the Morrell, Burton and Fairhurst to introduce a lot more 2-3 hour slots.

There will still be some full-day and half-day slots available, but the change means there are 164 more possible study spaces to book per day - they’re available from Monday November 23 and you can book them now. We really hope this makes things better for people, but do let us know if there are other useful changes we can make. Please do keep socially distancing, wearing your masks, and being patient with our staff on the way into the building.

For anyone who can’t currently visit the library (or even those who can!) we’ve just launched Library Home From Home, designed to bring the library atmosphere to you. There are library Zoom backgrounds, a virtual feedback wall, and it even includes a 2 hour Study With Me video - uninterrupted sounds of the Morrell to put through your headphones and work to. Apparently it really does help with concentration - why not give it a try?
