The Library: here for you - 24/7

Posted on 26 April 2019

It's the busiest term, so it's good to know that when you need the Library, we've got your back.

We're here 24/7

You probably already know that the main University Library is open 24 hours a day. But the day-round support that we offer goes beyond the Library walls; our Library chat service is accessible from our website whether you're on or off campus; your questions will be answered by our own staff throughout our full service hours (eg 9am - 7pm on weekdays during term), and by colleagues at other libraries during self service hours.

You also have the option to text us or visit us at the Library and IT Help Desk.

More than books…

Books (and e-books) are the heart of the Library, but the many other facilities we offer will complete your Library experience and add value to your studies:

  • Study and skills support - our subject guides and skills guides are full of useful information, including resources relevant to your course, interactive tutorials, and details of upcoming training sessions.
  • Fairhurst Kitchen - time for a brew? Pop along to the first floor Fairhurst to make a hot drink, refill your water bottle, or warm up your lunch.
  • Laptop loans - if you've run out of charge, or you just didn't have room in your bag for your laptop, borrow one of ours. We have laptops for loan in the Morrell Lounge, the Fairhurst building, King's Manor Library, and Library@Piazza.
  • Great study spaces - whether you're seeking silence, or planning to collaborate on a group assignment, we have the right spot for you somewhere in our buildings. Find out more about our study spaces and use our seating availability page (also displayed on screens around the Library) to check where you can find a free seat.
