At the end of August 2018 the Library installed new self issue machines to ensure quicker and easier loans for library users. This included a new self return option which is available at the King’s Manor Library.
The new technology will use the chip in student ID cards to activate the new machines. This means barcodes don't have to be scanned and the machines will have the ability to scan multiple quantities of books at the same time by simply placing books on the illuminated glass shelf. Ultimately, when borrowing books, users will spend less time queuing and less time overall at the machines.
Contactless chip & pin self service payment options on self issue machines will also be available at both the University Library and King’s Manor Library.
