Scan and Send is now available through our Book Takeaway service.
Our Scan and Send service enables you to request scans of chapters or articles by email or postal delivery of books direct to your door.
If you need to request items not currently held by the Library, tell us what you need.
To place a request through Scan and Send, complete the request form.
Be sure to give us as much detail as you can about what you need and to tell us how you would like the item to be sent to you (i.e. electronically or in the post). You will need to be logged in to your University Google account to access the form.
We’ll aim to send the item in the format you’ve requested, but we won’t always be able to do that (for example due to copyright restrictions).
Please note that the delivery time for this service will vary depending on demand.
Please note the following for scan requests:
Please note the following about requesting books for postal delivery:
Requesting scans of chapters or articles is free for all students and staff at the University.
Students enrolled in an online or distance learning programme and academic staff who teach on those programmes are eligible for free postal delivery.
For other students and staff we charge £3 for UK and Ireland or £10 for worldwide per item sent using the postal delivery service. The delivery charge will be added to your Library Account when an item is sent to you. Items sent in the post are subject to recall and will incur fines for overdue returns.
You are responsible for the cost of returning books sent to you in the post.
Please note that items sent to you in the post are subject to recall by other users, which may shorten the return date. You will receive an email informing you of the new return date if an item on loan to you is requested.
We recommend that you get proof of postage when sending your items back to the Library. We take the return date of the book as the date of postage.
Please post returns to the following address:
