Professor Richard Nolan
MA (Cantab), Barrister
Professor
I joined York Law School in September 2012.
Previously I was Reader in Corporate & Trust Law at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St John’s College, where I taught for 19 years. I have given courses and papers as a visiting academic elsewhere in England, and abroad in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Poland, Singapore and the US. I have advised on law reform in several projects by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Law Commission for England and Wales.
I am also a barrister and Door Tenant (a part-time practitioner) at Erskine Chambers, Lincoln’s Inn, which is widely regarded as the leading corporate law set of chambers in the United Kingdom. Before I became an academic, I qualified and practised as a solicitor with Macfarlanes, a leading firm in the City of London.
