Biography

Dr Scott Michael Steele
LLB (Hons), HND (Sunderland), LLM International Law, (Newcastle), PhD Space Law, Governance, Astrobiology and Planetary Protection (Open), PGCAP, Current (York),  FRSA, AFHE.

I joined YLS in 2022 as a problem based learning and advanced legal skills tutor. I also supervise undergraduate dissertation student's and run the client interviewing competition.

My teaching interests range from:

Contract Law, Tort Law (Obligations), Civil Litigation, Public/ International Public Law, Environment/ International Environmental Law, Legal Skills, Space Law & Governance, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Law and Technology Law.

  • The control and management of space debris from an international and corporate governance model. 
  • Biosecurity and planetary protection policy in outer space missions.
  • Parliamentary sovereignty and the principles of public law.
  • The international legal aspects of treaty law and interpretation. 
  • International and domestic space law and governance.
