MA (Cantab), Solicitor
Associate Lecturer/PBL Tutor
I read law at Wolfson College, Cambridge, as a mature student and, after a break to have my children during which I did a Masters course in anti-discrimination law at Georgetown University, I completed the Legal Practice Course at Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett University). Having worked for some years at the Legal Aid Board, I facilitated Emsleys Solicitors in Leeds in obtaining the Legal Aid Franchise.
Having trained as a solicitor with Emsleys, I obtained a Senior Lectureship at Leeds Beckett University where I was module leader for civil litigation, accounts and employment law. I continued to work as a part-time solicitor specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence law.
In 2004, I joined BPP (now BPP University) as the GDL programme leader, implementing and running for 3 years the GDL at their new law school in Leeds. As a Lecturer I taught tort and contract, running the tort programme at BPP Leeds at both GDL and LLB level.
I moved to YLS in 2013 where I have been a PBL tutor on the Public Law/EU and Professionalism & Ethics modules. For one year I was a convenor of the Human Rights and Wrongs option.
I am currently also teaching tort and contract at the Open University, and I have been an external examiner on the LPC at the University of Law.
