York Law School is delighted to announced that Professor Simon Halliday has been elected as an Academican in the Social Sciences (AcSS) by the UK Academy of Social Sciences. The Academy is the national body representing academics, 46 learned societies and over 90,000 social science practitioners in the UK, with a mission to "promote social sciences in the United Kingdom for the public benefit". Academicians are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors. Their election is based upon a determination by the Academy that their contribution to the field is worthy of the conferment of the award of Academician and follows a detailed peer review of the standing and impact of an individual's work. Simon's nomination for the award came from the Socio-Legal Studies Association (SLSA) and was based on his contributions in the fields of administrative justice, legal consciousness and the management of legal liability risks by public bodies.
