We are looking for people from Newcastle, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough to help us with a new study aimed at charting language change across the North-East and improving speech recognition software. Our study looks at differences in local accents across the region, how people feel about their communities and language, and whether they travel around the area much or not. To do this we record speech in a variety of contexts (e.g. reading a list of words, having a casual conversation) over the course of an hour, and we pay £20 on the day to each person we record.
We are currently in need of people who meet the following criteria:
Middlesbrough-born women aged 18-25 who travel (10 miles+) outside of Middlesbrough at least once a week
Sunderland-born women aged 18-25 who travel (10 miles+) outside of Sunderland at least once a week
If you fit one of these descriptions and would like to take part, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01904 322 668 for more information.
