Profile

Biography

Tamara joined the department as Associate Lecturer in Translation in 2017. She trained as a translator and conference interpreter at the University of Leeds following completion of a degree in Spanish at the University of Exeter. She teaches the Spanish final-year undergraduate translation module, based on her experience as a translator, interpreter and teaching both disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate level in higher education institutions.

As well as university teaching Tamara has extensive experience in eLearning, having created and managed websites and online learning resources for the EU-funded ORCIT project (2010-2018) and the UK Government-funded National Network for Interpreting (2009-2012). For the latter initiative she also ran careers events and delivered interpreting taster sessions across the country; she continues to engage in awareness-raising activity for the translation and interpreting professions.

Tamara is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
