York Language Electives
Learning a language broadens your knowledge, boosts your employability and helps you to make unique academic connections.
Students generally choose their language electives in March alongside their other degree options. If you are just joining the University as a First year or visiting student or you are still deciding which electives to take, registration remains open for the YLEs that are running and have spaces. Please check the list List of YLEs still open for registration to see what is available and ensure there is no timetable clash. Refer to our table below for relevant module information.
The deadline for final registration is Friday the 6th of October.

The opportunity to study an additional language as part of my degree programme is one of the best things about studying at York. Doing the language for credit provides extra incentive to work harder and improve.
