Biography

Lauren's research interests are in forensic speech science, sociophonetics and speech technology. Her PhD investigated the production of transcripts of evidential audio recordings within the criminal justice system, exploring methods of transcription by forensic phonetics experts, non-expert police transcribers and automatic speech recognition systems. After finishing her PhD, she worked for 16 months as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the ESRC funded project 'Person-specific automatic speaker recognition'. She is currently undertaking an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship, continuing her research on transcription in the criminal justice system.
