Obtaining software - staff and research graduates

All staff and research graduate software requests are managed through IT Services. You can submit a request by email to itsupport@york.ac.uk.

You will need to provide the following information:

Details of software/licence required
Quantity
Unit price
Workorder number(s)

There is no need to specify an account number: the account number for software orders is always 2253.

Available software

Microsoft 365

The University has subscribed to Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office) to provide all students and staff with free access to Microsoft's productivity apps, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Purchasing Microsoft software
In addition to Microsoft 365, staff can obtain further software through the Microsoft Campus Agreement and the Microsoft Select software licence deal.
Purchasing Adobe software
A number of Adobe products can be purchased by staff at a significant discount through the University of York's VIP and CLP Framework Agreements.
Purchasing other software
Several other packages are available for installation on University owned machines - some are also available for home use.
