A National Network for Public History

Posted on 16 May 2022

York has become a founding member of a new national network for Public History teaching and research in the UK.

The network is led by the Raphael Samuel History Centre at Birkbeck, University of London and funded by the AHRC. The network brings together academic historians and practitioners teaching on public history programmes and running public history centres, in order to examine and develop our ideas, our programmes, and our collaborations with each other.  The network will host a series of collaborative best-practise workshops in the summer of 2022, leading to the creation of a national ‘hub’ website. It will culminate in a major conference in September 2022 that will examine the state of the field in all its forms, and develop exciting partnerships between higher education and the vibrant, thriving world of non-academic public history.
