Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM) is celebrated in June every year. It began in the UK in 2008. It aims to celebrate and increase knowledge and awareness of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities’ history, heritage and culture.
Working alongside the York Travellers’ Trust and other partners, IPUP would like to encourage organisations in the arts, charity, cultural, education, and heritage sectors to mark GRTHM 2025.
This could take a number of forms - for example, a commitment to sharing resources relating to Gypsy, Roma and Traveller histories; internal or external communications marking GRTHM; developing resources for future use; events or talks; or larger-scale projects such as exhibitions or performances. Above all, we want to encourage York-based organisations to consider how they can incorporate GRTHM into their annual calendars.
This web page is designed to publicise events going on across the City of York across June 2025. There are also links to other GRTHM resources.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss how your organisation can support and mark GRTHM in York, please get in touch with us at grthm-committee@york.ac.uk.
Information about GRTHM events taking place in June 2025 will appear here.
If your organisation will be marking GRTHM in June 2025, please fill out this form so we can share the details.
