Dr. Corrado Topi is an ecological economist at the Stockholm Environment Institute research centre at the University of York, the largest centre of the institute outside of Stockholm. SEI is the leading institute in the world for environment and development research. Dr. Corrado Topi’s research focuses on working with decision makers and policy makers in private enterprises and in cities on the strategies to achieve the transition to a sustainable and resilient economic model. He works and has published on green finance, sustainable finance and climate finance; on circular economy; on the reduction of impacts and the integration of environmental and social externalities into economic models; on sustainable industrialisation; on the economics of energy efficiency, resource efficiency and decarbonisation in cities and private enterprises; on sustainable and resilient value chains and supply chains; on corporate social responsibility; on cultural heritage as engine of sustainable and resilient economic growth; on the economics of ecosystem services and of conservation strategies. He has been invited expert on the G7 meeting on mobilising green finance for Small and Medium Enterprises; appointed expert in the Urban Transition Alliance of post industrial cities in transition; chair of the expert of the EUCANET network of cities; member of the board and deputy chairman of the dutch  Stichting GreenEcoNet, one of leading platforms of green small and medium enterprises; senior advisor of the UN Environment; advisor to IFAD; on the board of private enterprises either as director or as advisor on sustainability, on the transition to a green business models and on the introduction of circular economy practice.

Ex-corporate, Dr. Corrado Topi is a quantitative complex system scientist with a doctorate in ecological economics and  25+ years of professional experience in private enterprises, including CSO and managing director level, and in academia. He is the lead developer of ALCHEMY an approach to support companies in transitioning their value chain to a sustainable model; the co author of the Mini Stern Review, one of the world leading approaches to the economics of low carbon , energy efficiency transition strategies in cities; the codeveloper of the CEPS framework for the implementation of the circular economy. 

He is the author of more than 30 international publications, and he is member of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, and of the Association Francaise d'Economie Politique.

Among other things, Corrado sits on the Board and is Deputy Chair of Stichting GreenEcoNet (Groningnen, the Netherlands), a private Dutch not-for-profit foundation, whose mission is to promote the green transition among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and the dialogue between policy makers, research Institutes and SMEs decision makers on sustainable economic transition. As Non Executive Director, he sits on the board of Hausos (Hyderabad, India), an Indian organisation dedicated to promoting Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental sustainability practices in the Indian subcontinent. Finally, he is Member Of The Board and Non Executive Director of Nuova Terra (Narni, Italy), whose mission is to promote new economics model at the community level through inclusive social experiences.
