Call for Papers: BLAR special issue
Latin American Postgraduate Researchers working together with the IGDC on a special edition of the Bulletin of Latin American Research (BLAR).
Earlier this year, the annual Postgraduates in Latin American Studies (PILAS) conference, was hosted by York’s Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre (IGDC) at the University of York. One of the initiatives of the out-going committee was to extend the reach and scope of the conference through inviting proposals to help create a special edition to be submitted to the Bulletin of Latin American Research (BLAR). This special edition of the journal is open to post-graduates and established academics alike and ties into the conference theme of Activism and Knowledge. It is envisaged that the special edition initiative will then form part of the PILAS conference going forward, to help enhance the profile of the conference, and to increase the opportunities for all interested parties to continue the debate.
Politics PhD candidate and IGDC Research Assistant Matt Barlow, is part of the Editorial Team for this project along with other PILAS 2019 Committee Members, including, Giulia Champion (University of Warwick) former PILAS President, Jessica Wax-Edwards and Gabriel Funari (University of São Paulo). This project is being supported and supervised by IGDC Director; Professor Jean Grugel and IGDC Member; Dr Alejandro Peña. The IGDC is delighted to be supporting this muti-disciplinary project that seeks to enhance the discussion surrounding activism in Latin America whilst providing a platform for both post-graduates, junior and more senior academics working in this important area, to have their voices heard.
