Postdoctoral Researchers

The HRC supports a diverse community of postdoctoral researchers with access to a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment, public engagement opportunities, professionalising training and social events.

The HRC Postdoctoral Community

HRC Postdoctoral Research Fellows

Each year, the HRC awards up to nine non-stipendiary one-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to applicants nominated by the eight arts and humanities departments.

HRC Postdoctoral Research Fellows are given dedicated workspace within the HRC, early career support and a modest research allowance.  They form the core of the HRC postdoctoral community.

Arts and Humanities Postdoctoral Researchers

In addition, the HRC welcomes postdoctoral researchers who are part of a funded project team in affiliated centres and departments, some of whom have dedicated project space on the first floor of the HRC.

Individual postdoctoral researchers - funded by Marie Curie, the British Academy, Wellcome Trust, Mellon Foundation and others - also form part of the wider arts and humanities postdoctoral researcher community.

Events and opportunities

Postdoctoral researchers are welcome to attend HRC lectures, workshops and training events. Details of upcoming sessions and how to attend can be found on the What's on and News pages.

Postdoctoral researchers are also warmly invited to make suggestions for the HRC's interdisciplinary Proposition or Lightning Rods sessions.

HRC Postdoctoral Forum

The HRC Postdoctoral Forum meets termly.  It provides a place where all postdoctoral researchers can get together for formal or informal discussion. Other colleagues can be invited in to contribute when helpful.

An invitation to attend or propose a topic for discussion will be circulated to the community early each term.

To be added to the postdoctoral circulation list, please contact the HRC administrator, Helen Jacobs (helen.jacobs@york.ac.uk).
