Humanities Research Centre doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships
Posted on 23 March 2021
We are now inviting applications for our Humanities Research Centre Doctoral Fellowships and Postdoctoral Research Fellowships.
HRC Doctoral Fellowships 2021
HRC doctoral fellowships are open to York arts and humanities PhD students currently in their third year of full time study (or at the equivalent stage of part time study). Each eligible HRC-affiliated department or centre - Archaeology, English and Related Literature, History, History of Art, Language and Linguistic Science, Music, Philosophy, Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media and the Centre for Medieval Studies - may nominate one candidate for an HRC Doctoral Fellowship. The nine resulting candidates will then automatically progress to the HRC Doctoral Fellowship Finals which will take place during the afternoon of Tuesday 29th June 2021. We hope that the event can take place in the Berrick Saul Building, but if that is not possible, it will be held online.
HRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowships 2021-22
HRC postdoctoral research fellowships are open to recent York arts and humanities doctoral graduates. The fellowships are non-stipendiary but come with a research grant of £1,000, associate status in the HRC and desk space in the Berrick Saul Building. The fellowships run for an academic year, from 27 September 2021 to 23 September 2022.
Each of the eight arts and humanities departments (Archaeology, English, History, History of Art, Language and Linguistic Science, Music, Philosophy, Theatre, Film,Television and Interactive Media) and one PhD-admitting centre (Centre for Medieval Studies) may nominate one recent doctoral graduate for a fellowship.
More details of the postdoctoral fellowships and the application form can be found here. Applications must be received by departments by Tuesday 11th May, and all departmental nominations must reach the HRC by Tuesday 1st June 2021.
