In the autumn term you take two Histories and Contexts (20 credits) modules, choosing from a range of options. These examine either a theme or an issue in relation to a particular period or region, or a way in which historians have approached studying the past. Each is taught through an integrated programme of two lectures and one discussion group a week. You are assessed by means of an essay.
The following list provides details of some of the Histories and Contexts offered by the department in recent years. Students will typically be able to choose from around eight options.
