Book Launch Update: ‘The World Health Organization: A History’
The publication of ‘The World Health Organization: A History’ will be marked by a side event at the Seventy-Second World Health Assembly in Geneva
On 25th May 2019 the Centre for Global Health Histories (the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Health Histories) and Cambridge University Press will convene a book launch for the latest publication in the Global Health Histories book series, The World Health Organisation - A History, by Marcos Cueto, Theodore M. Brown, Elizabeth Fee. The launch, which takes the form of a side event of the Seventy-Second World Health Assembly in Geneva, will be held at the InterContinental Hotel (19:00hrs to 20:00hrs).
The new publication covers major achievements in the WHO’s seventy years while also highlighting the organization's internal tensions. It examines how well the organization has pursued its aim of everyone, everywhere attaining the highest possible level of health.
The audience at the launch will be able to hear from one of the authors, Professor Theodore Brown (Professor of History in the School of Arts and Sciences and of Public Health Sciences and Medical Humanities in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Rochester, New York) as well as the General Editor of CUP’s Global Health Histories series Professor Sanjoy Bhattacharya (Professor in the History of Medicine, Department of History, and Director, Centre for Global Health Histories (CGHH),University of York, UK, Head, WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Health Histories).
