New University scholarship worth £5,000 for York graduates – apply by 1 March for your chance to win the award

The University has announced that it will fund six new Masters scholarships for 2016-17 for the very best York graduates, but applicants will need to act quickly as the deadline for applications is 1 March.

Worth £5000 each, two scholarships will be awarded per faculty and each department can nominate one MA candidate. All applications that have already been submitted to History will be automatically considered for the award, along with all others received before the March deadline. Candidates must be York graduates living in the UK.

If you haven’t yet applied for your Masters, what should you do?

  1. Choose from one of our outstanding MAs or an MA by Research (for those with a large-scale project in mind eg, emerging from your dissertation or Special Subject). All can be taken part-time over two years to enable you to do paid work alongside your study.
  2. If you want to, speak to one of our MA conveners or David Clayton (Chair of the Graduate School Board).
  3. Ask your supervisor or one of your tutors to write you a reference.
  4. Write a one-page personal statement with supporting documentation, such as your transcript and a sample of your written work.
  5. See our how to apply page, and submit your application.

Good luck!
