Charity football tournament

Last Saturday, footballers from the Department of History participated in the annual Humanities Research Centre 7-a-side Football Tournament to benefit Refugee Action York. History just missed out on defending their title from last year, going through the group stage without conceding a goal before losing in a penalty shootout against the team from Refugee Action York.
The weather was spectacular, with the tournament falling on the nicest weekend of the year so far. There were plenty of spectators and volunteers, in addition to the participants, and it was a great day out for a very good cause.
