Mark Roodhouse’s first book shortlisted for Royal Historical Society Whitfield Prize

The jury for the Royal Historical Society Whitfield Prize has shortlisted Mark Roodhouse’s first book Black Market Britain, 1939-1955, which Oxford University Press published last year. Awarded for the first time in 1997, the annual Whitfield Prize goes to the best first book on a British or Irish historical subject. The winner and runners-up will be officially announced at the Society’s annual reception on Wednesday 2 July 2014, following the Society’s annual Prothero Lecture.
